Installation Meeting - October 2019 - W. Bro Bill Byhurst promoted in the field

First class Installation meeting of Erdemont Lodge 5865 this afternoon followed by an excellent Festive Board, in the company of the PGM, DPGM and DGSupt.

WBro Danny Berry was outstanding as he installed WBro Peter Brooker PPSGW as WM, with excellent ritual and ceremonial throughout the proceedings.

To make matters even better, two candidates were read out for initiation, a member agreed to join Erdemont Chapter and the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master received a donation of £6,000 toward the forthcoming 2026 Festival in addition to a further £1,000 donated to local charities.

And for the final icing on the cake, the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master promoted W. Bro Bill Byhurst to Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden. This is in recognition of Bill’s outstanding service to Freemasonry in general and for completing 35 years’ as Tyler to the Erdemont Lodge.

February Meeting - 2019

An excellent meeting where Bro. Dean Hill was passed to the Second Degree, followed by a presentation of a Grand Lodge Certificate to Bro Isaac Oppong by our special guest, W.Bro James Marsh (APGM).

In the evening 46 Brethren dined together. We were entertained with a wonderful rendition of the Address to the Haggis by W.Bro Tom Quinn who in the meeting had also delivered an excellent explanation of the 2nd Degree Tracing Board.

Erdemont Lodge Ladies Night 2018

The Lodge Ladies’ Festival this year was held at the Bexleyheath Marriott on 28th April 2018 and a fabulous event it was too – enjoyed by some 80 of our Brethren and their Ladies and Guests.  Richard Eden, supported by his loyal band of helpers did a wonderful job of organising the event and decorating the room and the tables in a most elegant manner.  Richard had organised the menu and drinks and Alan had laid on some traditional Turkish entertainment.  Yes – those who can cast their minds back to Alan’s first Ladies’ Night in 2011 will remember the Belly Dancer.  Well, she (or rather an updated model) was back again but this time with flashing lights attached and a number of our Members – Colin Hutton in particular – threw all inhibition to the wind and joined in the dance with her. This part of the evening was very much enjoyed by all, as was the live music provided by a highly talented group called “Sonny And The Harp”, who were ably assisted by the Marriott’s resident Disc Jockey.

Tom Quinn, as MC, kept the programme running smoothly and sang the Ladies Song to the customary delight of all present. Danny Berry proposed a very entertaining Toast to the Ladies and Mrs Shen Sanford gave a spirited and appropriate response. Martin Chapman proposed the Toast to our President and, as would be expected from our distinguished and eloquent WM, Alan acknowledged this in good form and included special thanks to those who had supported the function in this the Lodge’s 75th Anniversary Year.  He was particularly pleased to announce that due to everyone’s generosity, the Raffles’ proceeds had raised the magnificent sum of £765 and the Brethren who had contributed prizes were warmly thanked for their donations.

Next year’s Ladies’ Festival, under the Presidency of Danny Berry, is scheduled for 11th May 2019 – put the date in your diary now to make sure that you don’t miss out on the Lodge’s principal social event of the year.

April Meeting - 2017

An excellent meeting on Saturday 1 April of Erdemont Lodge 5865. The highlight had to be when the Lodge called off and WBro Jack Evans was escorted into the Lodge by his daughters, Linda (right) and Val (left). APGM Mark Eyles-Thomas then gave a very interesting talk about Jack's life and times as he presented WBro Jack with his 50 year Certificate. It was, in fact, 50 years to the day since Jack had been initiated into the Lodge. Jack then moved to the DC's seat, a position he had held so well for so long, and was joined by other Lodge DCs for a group picture.
As if that were not enough, WBro mark also presented a Grand Lodge Certificate to Bro Lewis Allen and then sat back and relaxed as Bro Isaac Oppong was Passed in an excellent ceremony by the Worshipful master, WBro Martin Chapman.
An excellent meeting followed by a happy and packed Festive Board showed everyone how Masonry should be.
